Deep in the Heart of Nairobi, Kenya a new women's microloan group has been birthed. This group was created by the community of Santa Barbara who stood up and said yes to empowering the women of Africa.
These handmade crafts have been made by a group of 15 women living in extreme poverty on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya and in the Korogocho slums. Korogocho is home to over 300,000 people living without access to electricity, clean water, or adequate health care, all contained within one square mile. Each of these women have a story; each story is one of tragedy, loss, and struggle; but each day they continue with faith, hope and a dream of something greater. Many of these women are single mothers, many are HIV positive, but all have a vision of a better life for themselves and their families.
With each purchase know that you are playing you part in eliminating global poverty, and creating an opportunity where there was once none; creating a new story for these women, and creating a better life for generations to come.
"When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be" -Patanjali
